The tent did exactly what was promised, it was a pop-up which comfortably slept two. The tent was ideal for my three day festival and after watching the instructional video on youtube on folding the tent back into its case, within two attempts i had it easily. The only thing you may want to consider when buying the tent is also purchasing a ground sheet, just incase, as i did. But overall a very good tent and would recomend to those of us, who like camping but hate fidling about with poles and pegs all day.
P.s the smug feeling you get when folding down your tent in seconds in unbeatable.
Lets get one thing straight.
THIS TENT DOES NOT LEAK!!!!!
What other first time campers are not realizing is that all single skin tents are prone to condensation, and this tent is no exception!
These tents are quality and if people can't do a bit of research before they go camping then they shouldn't be allowed to camp!
And you should ALWAYS put up a tent in your back garden before you go camping anyway, to make sure that there has been no damage and that there is nothing missing, if other reviewers had done this then they wouldn't have looked like idiots because they would have practiced the take down.
Anyhoo, on with the review. I have used this tent a couple of times and it is fantastic! after you have practiced taking it down you will look like a pro at any camp site, and be the envy of people fannying around with poles. Don't get me wrong, it had a major downside with the condensation issue, but I simply took a small towel and when I was woken up with a drip, I just took my towel and gave the condensation a good wipe away.
I would highly recommend this tent, especially to first time campers who don't want to have the hassle of putting up a larger tent.
I have given the tent only 4 stars as although it states that it is a 2 person tent, I imaging it would be very cramped, so unless you are camping with an extremely close friend I would recommend getting a tent each.
Remember that the zip is always a weak spot in all tents, so put it up with the door facing away from the wind if it is going to be a rainy day.
ENJOY!
I bought this tent to use as a beach shelter, as I was fed up threading poles through loops and tying knots.
EASY UP - Nothing much to do here. Take it out of the bag, remove the elastic strap and bing! It's up.
EASY DOWN - Just watch the video on the Gelert website a couple of times and it is childsplay to fold it back to fit inside the bag. I really can't see what the trouble is with those who can't fold it.
A GREAT SHELTER - Works fine on the beach to get out of the sun or wind and to keep your belongings together.
To qualify the title, I bought this item literally as a shed for my motorhome. I found that when moving off site to do a bit of shopping, it was a pain having to stow away the power lead, waste water collector, step etc. especially when when it was raining.
This has proved a godsend, out of the bag and up it pop's in seconds. As most of the items to store are quite heavy, I don't bother to peg it down, the weight holds it in place. When I return everything is reconnected in a couple of minutes.
The tent itself, I can fold and pack away in under a minute. All in all this works brilliantly.
Before buying, I read a number of reviews, some of which criticised the instructions for packing the tent. One or two people had actually thrown their tents away. I found the instructions O.K. On receipt of the tent, I cleared a space in my lounge and practiced
folding it away which I found easy, the more I practised, the faster I got.
To be fair, I had a bit of help. There's a video on U-tube showing how to pack a pop up tent, which I watched quite a few times, it's very good if studied carefully, as it shows the technique clearly, especially if played in slow motion, or frame by frame.
A great bit of kit, given a bit of patience and practice.
Quick, easy and cool BUT not for wet conditions. If its going to rain choose a different tent. With no groundsheet or footprint and with poor ventilation it soaks water up like a sponge and your going to have a damp night.
